[TV] tvN′s ′The Genius′, Featuring Infinite′s Sung Kyu, Kim Gura and More, Unveils Its Story

In recent days, even variety has come to use twists to make its stories more dramatic. This also means that viewers have become accustomed to the average twist in plot.

This reality show′s twist, however, begs to differ from all the other small plot twists out there.

TvN′s upcoming show The Genius brings in 13 contestants from various areas to compete for the top spot in rounds involving various games. Every episode, a contestant is eliminated following a main match and a death match, and the final one standing will be awarded 100 million won in prize money.

The names of the 13 to join in the show shine bright.

The show will feature Kim Gura, Lee Sang Min, announcer Kim Kyeong Ran, issue-making actress Park Eun Ji, Infinite′s Sung Kyu, rookie in politics Lee Jun Seok, legendary poker player Cha Min Soo, Choi Chang Yeop of School 2013, pool player Cha Yu Ram, professional gamer Hong Jin Ho, star cartoonist Kim Poong, Seoul University′s genius girl Choi Jung Moon and auctioner Kim Min Seo in a fierce competition of brains and nerve.

Because the show requires sharp thinking to win, every game is expected to be riddled with thrill and shock. Each contestant must figure out how the game works and how they can win as quickly as possible, and they may join forces with others, betray them or simply eliminate their competitors.

Kim Gura said at the press conference for The Genius held on April 17, "It′s a type of reality show completely different from other survival programs and idol dating shows. This is a program that really has us thinking to stay alive. It′s weird to say we′re ′killing′ but we have to eliminate someone to continue living, and that means competition is fierce for every round. I get really tired after we finish shooting an episode. It shows how tense I was while trying to stay alive."

Contestants are encouraged to use every means to survive. The 13 geniuses continue to get to the bottom of the game in order to grab the great prize money, and in the process, build their own characters. Kim Gura and Lee Sang Min have become known as experts of trickery, while Sung Kyu has been newly dubbed ′the kind wolf′ for his sudden and firm decisions.

The first round will involve a 1, 2, 3 card game.

Producer Jung Jong Yeon commented, "We cast people we thought would be good at games. People who can think logically, and have good social minds were brought in to be a part of the cast. We chose them based on many talents, like lying. I believe that people can be talented in many different ways. I put together the team based on traits I thought would be charismatic."

He added, "I put in a lot of effort in editing and filming. I believe the show will be very entertaining."

The Genius will air its first episode on April 26.
