INFINITE members celebrate leader Sunggyu’s birthday

INFINITE‘s charismatic and slightly buffoonish leader Sunggyu recently met his birthday, and his fellow INFINITE members poured out on Twitter to celebrate his very special day.
“Happy birthday to our nearly 30 cutesy Gyu-nim,” Sungyeol posted. “Now that you’re old, I have a proposal! Although I am merely an underling, please refrain from being cute ..your generosity knows no bounds.”
“Sunggyu hyung~! Happy birthday~♥♥♥” Sungjong posted. “Leader Gyu who always brings us strength~! I love you~ +_+”
Hoya kept his message short and to the point, simply saying, “Happy birthday to Gyu hyungnim”. Dongwoo was more upbeat, posting “ㅋㅋㅋ Gyu birthday ~.~ Let’s all live to the max!!! Because our lives will pass hehehe life is a party~!”
In response to all of the well-wishes from his fellow members, Sunggyu replied in kind. “Thank you INFINITE friends!” he posted. “But I will always be your cutesy guiyomi.”
Happy birthday to our leader, ‘grandpa’ Gyu!

INFINITE become first artist in 12 years to win #1 on the three major broadcasting stations

INFINITE has been sweeping music shows with their latest single “Man In Love” and they’re now recognized as the first artist in 12 years to win #1 on three major broadcasting stations (SBS, MBC, KBS) with the same song. INFINITE recently achieved #1 on MBC‘s ‘Music Core‘s first broadcast with its new ranking system. INFINITE also achieved #1 on KBS 2TV‘s ‘Music Bank‘ on the 4th and 12th as well as on SBS‘ ‘Inkigayo‘ on March 31st and April 7th. The previous artist and song that was able to achieve such a grand slam was back in 2001 when Fin.K.L‘s “You Wouldn’t Know” achieved #1 on ‘Inkigayo’, ‘Music Bank’, and ‘Music Camp‘ before it became ‘Music Core’. The reason it took so long for artists to hit a ‘grand slam’ on all three broadcasting stations involved the different timing of the music shows’ ranking systems. ‘Music Bank’ previously discarded their ranking system back in August 2001 and revived its ranking system in September 2007. ‘Music Core’ also removed its ranki...

[Exclusive] JpopAsia Interviews Silver Ash

Silver Ash has always marched to the beat of their own drum. As band after band have recently announced their disbandment, Silver Ash bucked this trend, announcing instead that they would be rising from the ashes, coming together once again after an 8 year hiatus to reform the band. The band originally formed in 2000 in Beijing, China, becoming the country's first visual rock band in the style of Japan's visual kei movement. They quickly gained popularity and found success, carving out their own place in a music industry dominated by ballads. Despite their initial success, things started going south for a number of reasons, including government censorship and the SARS epidemic. These difficulties eventually led the band to go on an indefinite hiatus in 2005. In 2013, Silver Ash surprised many by announcing their long-awaited comeback. They started out the year by releasing their comeback single "Pretty but Evil", a song written mostly in English, wit...
