[K-pop] FT Island to Take Off on Japan Arena Tour This Summer

FT Island has confirmed it will set off on an arena tour in Japan in June.

The idol band held a large-scale fan meeting with 10,000 fans at Japan’s Tokyo International Forum Hall A on March 17. FT Island previewed its upcoming track You Are My Life for fans, heightening anticipation for the song, which is set to be released on March 27.

Adapted tracks from its fourth studio album Five Treasure Box as well as Japanese releases Compass, YUKI and Beautiful World were among the 10 total tracks FT Island performed live for fans.

The group also confirmed it would be setting off on an arena tour from June to July, with plans to make stops in Nagano and Shizuoka for the first time ever, as well as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Miyaki, on the six-city, nine-concert tour.

Lee Hong Gi said, “We’re preparing to give off more of a rock feel for this arena tour. It will be a show with a summer feel.” He continued, “We’re nervous because we’ll be going to Nagano and Shizuoka for the first time, but we want to create a show that many people can enjoy.”

The fans also surprised the members with a special event, singing happy birthday for Lee Hong Gi and leader Choi Jong Hoon, who celebrated their birthdays earlier this month on March 2 and March 7, respectively.

FT Island most recently took the top spot on Japan’s DVD chart with its live DVD 2012 TAKE FTISLAND in Seoul, and fans are patiently awaiting the release of its tenth Japanese single You Are My Life on March 27.
