Idol Doppelgangers: Twins, but not really

KAI (EXO) and Taemin (SHINee)Hallyu stars who make you do a double take!Hallyu stars who make you do a double take!

Do good friends start looking alike after spending too much time together?

That seems to be the case for SHINee's Taemin and EXO's KAI. Fans from the different camps have offered mixed views - some agree that while the two young idols share similar features, many of the 'lookalike photos' are purely the result of camera angles and styling.

Nevertheless, the similarities between Taemin and KAI have gone beyond appearance. For one, they are both the maknaes and main dancers in their respective groups. They are also part of SM Entertainment's dance and performing units, Younique Unit and SM The Performance. The boys appeared in the music video 'Maxstep' and shared the stage for a special performance at SBS Gayo Daejun (Song Festival) last year.

MIR (MBLAQ) and Hongki (FT Island)

It is little wonder why MIR's resemblance to FT Island's main vocalist Hongki was the talking point of many fans when MBLAQ debuted in 2009 - similarities in hair styles, colour, and facial features had the boys looking like twins.

Despite gaining attention for being the 'Hongki lookalike' initially, MBLAQ's maknae (youngest member) managed to shed that label with his own brand of charisma as the group matured.

And though the lads do look very much alike at first glance, fans who followed the groups closely were soon able to tell the two apart with their different styles and personalities.

Big Bang's Daesung and K.Will share striking similarities with their side-swept hairstyles, broad facial features and slit-like eyes.
Interestingly, both of them have acknowledged the resemblance, expressing that they 'feel honoured' to be mistaken for each other.

Joon Young (ZE:A) and Micky Yoochun (JYJ)

Leader of nine-member boy group ZE:A, Joon Young created buzz online for his resemblance to JYJ's Micky Yoochun after the group made their debut on Music Bank in 2010.

While some fans agree that the two do appear similar from certain angles, a number of them pointed out that Joon Young looks more like Yoochun's 'younger brother' and that the JYJ member oozes both 'aegyo' (cute) and manly charm.

KangTa, Siwon (Super Junior) and Zhou Mi (Super Junior M)

'I can't tell who is who!' say the folks who are new to the world of K-Pop.

And we don't blame them as it can be tough to tell the idols apart, especially the ones from multi-member groups.

Ever since Super Junior and sub-unit Super Junior M debuted, Siwon and Zhou Mi's appearances have reminded fans of ex-H.O.T. member KangTa. While Siwon and Zhou Mi both bear resemblance to their senior in the company, the two look less like each other in comparison.

Rain and Junho (2PM)

Rain and 2PM's Junho - the 'long-lost brothers'.

The startling resemblance between the two ranks them high on the list of idol doppelgangers. From the identical slit-like eyes to their smiles and even their laugh lines, it is hardly surprising that Junho is often mistaken for his senior, especially when they were once under the same management company.

Donghae (Super Junior), Amber (f(x)) and Jonghyun (SHINee)

Fondly nicknamed the 'SM Dinosaur siblings', Donghae, Amber and Jonghyun have publicly acknowledged their resemblance. The trio upload photos of their 'dino siblings' on social networks such as Twitter and me2day occasionally, much to fans' delight while also drawing attention to their resemblance.

Kim Hyun Joong and Kwangmin & Youngmin (BOYFRIEND)

Even before the Jo twins (Kwangmin and Youngmin) of idol group BOYFRIEND became singers, they gained attention for resembling SS501's leader Kim Hyun Joong, after appearing on a SBS programme.
While fans commented that their bright doe eyes look especially similar to each other's, Kim Hyun Joong agreed that the twins do look like him, drawing interest to the group when they debuted in 2011.

"HAHAHAHA....LOL;XD"
