KISS ME! Mexico Gets Ready for UKiss

KISS ME! Mexico Gets Ready for UKiss
UKiss is the First Kpop Idol Group to Perform in Mexico
Kpop fans all over Mexico are getting ready to welcome the popular group UKiss for their concert on June 28th in the capital of Mexico City. UKiss will be the first Kpop idol group to ever perform in Mexico.

South America has seen a recent rise in Kpop concerts and fan meetings. Artists like Kim Hyun Joong and Super Junior have performed in countries such as Peru and Brazil, yet Mexico has failed to attract these super groups before now.

In September of 2012 though, Junso of JYJ became the very first Korean artist to ever perform in Mexico. His sold-out solo concert attracted over 3,500 fans and surprised local media with the enthusiastic reception. Most Kpop fans in Mexico believe his successful concert was the key that opened the door for other Kpop artists to follow.
Though Junso performed as a soloist, UKiss is the first Kpop idol group to ever come to Mexico. Kiss Me’s around the country are excited to see the band perform in person and are busy making plans to welcome the group to their country. One of the people most excited to see the group perform is Daniela Zuniga, the 22 year old president of the official UKiss fan club in Mexico.

Daniela started the fan club back in 2009 in order to meet more Kiss Me’s and help support the band in Mexico. Last year, her fan club was made the official UKiss Fan Club for Mexico. They now have almost 2,000 members and 25 staff members. The group meets 8 times every year- organizing celebrations for the member’s birthdays and a party for the group’s anniversary. Seeing UKiss in person was something the fan club never imagined would happen. “Since the start we never knew they could come to our country,” says Daniela, “But we still supported them no matter what. We really enjoy sharing the love of the band between fans.”

Daniela and the rest of the fan club are making photobooks for each of the members that will include messages and letters from fans all over the country. They are also organizing a welcome video and will be presenting gifts to all the members. The group says they are just happy and thankful UKiss is coming to present a show for their fans in Mexico. Daniela says that Kpop and UKiss have influenced her in a large way. “UKiss are people I really admire. They never give up and always fight for their dreams. They have taught me that everything is possible and to keep on dreaming and working hard… that is something I remember when things get difficult.”

Fans from all over the country are planning to travel to the capital city for the concert. So many, in fact, that the fan club has opened an official page to help Kiss Me’s connect with others who will be traveling. Groups are renting buses to travel across country, while others are flying to Mexico City in order to attend the concert.

Melissa and Valeria Aguirre are two sisters who are among the many Kpop fans who will be traveling to the UKiss concert. The sisters have been fans of Kpop for over 4 years now and are interested in a variety of groups and artists such as JYJ, Super Junior, 2ne1, ss501 and BIGBANG. The sisters will be traveling 3 hours by plane to be present at the concert because the opportunity to see such a famous Korean group live was a chance they just couldn’t miss.

Both of the sisters (aged 19 and 24) said Kpop has been a huge influence in their lives and has changed them for the better. Valeria states, “Kpop means so much to me. It has motivated me in so many things. If I’m depressed, sad or angry, I just listen to Kpop and it completely changes my mood.” Her sister Melissa agrees, “Kpop is my everything. It’s my inspiration to accomplish things. It’s my energy to get up every morning.”

Apart from the concert on the 28th, UKiss is also holding a fan meeting the following day. Their company promises it will be an event specially designed for South and Latin American fans with surprises and even a song in Spanish.

The reception for UKiss has already been amazing and the group hasn’t even set foot in Mexico yet. This certainly proves to other Kpop artists and event organizers that Mexican fans are past ready for the Hallyu wave to hit their shores.

In the meantime, Kiss Me’s continue preparations to welcome their UKiss idols to the land of Mexico… at last.

[Issue] Officials Dismiss Rumors That Group will Protest JYJ′s Tokyo Dome Concert

A right wing group in Japan has warned it will be protesting against the JYJ Tokyo Dome concert coming up in April, but officials have said the warning is mere rumor. A media outlet in Japan reported on March 18, "A right wing group, which is against JYJ′s concert [coming to Japan], is currently protesting in the streets, and some say it will be present at the venue on the day of the concert." The outlet quoted an official on the matter, who took a different view of the issue and said it was a struggle of interests in Japanese showbiz. The official hinted that it could be the start of a quarrel between JYJ′s current local production firm and Avex, JYJ′s previous agency in Japan. In other words, the official linked the movements to the compensation suit that Avex recently lost against JYJ and its Korean agency C-JeS Entertainment, saying that such outside powers like Avex could be trying to damage the reputation and image of JYJ. [Issue] Super Junior’s Leeteuk Says Yesung Will Do Fine in the Army

Worrying for his fellow member awaiting army enlistment, Super Junior’s Leeteuk gave an encouraging message to Yesung. On March 27, Leeteuk and Mighty Mouth’s Sangchoo were appointed as PR ambassadors for military affairs Seoul Regional Military Manpower Office.  After going through the appointment ceremony, Leeteuk said a few words for Yesung, who is scheduled to enlist in 2013. “I want to tell Yesung this: cheer up!” said Leeteuk. “I’m sure at this point, Yesung is worried mentally and physically, wondering if he’ll be able to do well. I also had those thoughts, but once I got here, I realized that anyone can do this. So Yesung, it’s really unfortunate when I see you now, but once you enlist, you’ll start feeling sorry for the ones who aren’t in the army yet and time will go fast.” He hoped that Yesung will finish up all of his Super Junior activities well before coming to serve.
