‘From Misunderstanding to Controversy’ MBLAQ Explains the Criticism
MBLAQ explained their side of the story in response to comedian Im Joon Hyuk’s harsh criticism regarding MBLAQ’s attitude during their appearance in his act on comedy show ‘Happy People.’
MBLAQ’s management company stated, “We are taken aback by the criticism because the shoot went smoothly without any problem.”
The spokesperson further explained, “We got in touch with the show’s producer and he said that MBLAQ was fine. We are not sure why Im Joon Hyuk said such things. We asked our members and they said everything went all right, too. There must have been some sort of a misunderstanding.”
When a staff member on the show was contacted, he told, “I was present during the recording session and there didn’t seem to be any trouble. I was there for their practice, too.”
The chief producer of Saturday Night Live Korea, An Sang Hwi, also chimed in. “I was very surprised hearing the news. MBLAQ was great when they worked with us two weeks ago. I actually didn’t know about them too well but I got a good look at them then. They were good,” said An Sang Hwi.
He added that MBLAQ was actively suggesting ideas, including a lot of self-deprecating ones that could be risky for them.
With many associates showing their support for MBLAQ’s work ethic, the fingers are now pointing back to comedian Im Joon Hyuk. Perhaps he jumped to a few conclusions in their preparation meetings.
Earlier, the comment that sparked the controversy was Im Joon Hyuk’s Facebook post that read, “Ever since starting ‘Rising Star’-his act on the show-today’s was the toughest ever. Saying ‘we can’t do this, can’t do that’ all the way until the shoot. We invited some super stars here. G.O. worked really hard though.”

The outlet quoted an official on the matter, who took a different view of the issue and said it was a struggle of interests in Japanese showbiz. The official hinted that it could be the start of a quarrel between JYJ′s current local production firm and Avex, JYJ′s previous agency in Japan. In other words, the official linked the movements to the compensation suit that Avex recently lost against JYJ and its Korean agency C-JeS Entertainment, saying that such outside powers like Avex could be trying to damage the reputation and image of JYJ.
